What is a Reddit MCP server?

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server exposes tools an AI agent can call. A Reddit MCP server gives Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build or any MCP client tools to read Reddit (search, subreddit feeds, post comments, user history) and, in NotPeople's case, to draft and post through a browser on your own machine. You install it with one line and talk to it in plain language.

Does it need my Reddit password?

No. You export cookies from your browser once and hand them to the local agent on your machine; they live in a Chromium profile on your disk. NotPeople's cloud holds drafts, plans, memory and the task board. It never holds a session and cannot act on the account.

Does it post without asking?

Only what you approved. Drafts save with a pending status, you approve in chat, then the task lands on your node's board and the node posts it from your browser. Approved drafts can also be scheduled into a plan.

Which MCP clients work?

Claude Code, Codex and Grok Build have one-line install commands on this page. Claude Desktop, Cursor and any MCP client that speaks HTTP transport work the same way. The local agent also has a plain CLI (la reddit act, la node up) you can script directly.

Can I use it for X too?

Yes, the same server covers X (Twitter). Trends, drafts, clips, plans and creator circles for X are on the main MCP page. One key, one install line, both platforms.

Most Reddit MCP servers on GitHub wrap the official API: read posts, maybe submit through OAuth under your developer app. That is read access with a rate limit and an API-labeled posting path that subs and Reddit's filters treat differently. NotPeople adds the growth layer: rising-thread search across the subs you name, the sub's rules read before drafting, replies in your voice from memory, a karma plan that respects the daily ceiling, and posting from a real browser profile on your machine rather than the API.

The design is the answer: one task at a time, human gaps, a real browser, your own IP or one proxy that stays put, comments before posts, links off by default, and the daily ceiling written into the plan.
